Hair Transplant : What to expect form it?

Hair Transplant : Realizing your expectation

Is it really worthful?

Until they’re gone, most people take their hair for granted, just like good health and youth. For many individuals, a hair transplant can be beneficial in restoring a full head of hair, or a fuller version of it.

If you are deeply concerned about thinning up top or going bald, the procedure can be a way to boost your confidence about your looks. Talking to our doctor about what to expect during and after the surgery is important.

Hair Transplant : What really it is?

Hair Transplant involves moving previously existing hair to fill in areas with thin or no hair. Since the 1950s, doctors have been performing these transplants around the world., but recent years have witnessed significant changes in techniques.

The doctor’s office is where the procedure is normally done. In the beginning, the surgeon cleans your scalp and administers medication to numb the back of your head. Doctor then will select either follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS) or follicular unit extraction (FUE) for the transplant.

In FUE procedure, our surgeon’s team will shave the back of your scalp and  the numbing injection will be given. Once that’s done, the doctor will remove hair follicles one by one from there. The area heals with small dots that will be covered by your existing hair.

After that point, hairs will be prepared to beready for transplantation. Our doctor will cleans and numbs the area where the hair will go, and delicately places each hair by using special implanter needles in Direct Hair Transplantation Techniques. The nurses will help Doctor by placing the hair into the needles.

The process will take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours depending on the size of the transplant you receive. If you continue to lose hair or decide you want thicker hair, another procedure may be necessary in the future.

Expectations and Recovery

Your scalp may be very tender after the surgery. It’s possible that you’ll need to take pain medications for a few days. For at least a day or two, your surgeon will require you to wear bandages over your scalp. You may receive a prescription for an antibiotic or anti-inflammatory drug to take for several days. The majority of individuals can return to work within 2 to 5 days after the operation.

The transplanted hair will shed within 2 to 3 weeks to the third months following the surgery, but new growth should appear after 3 months. After 6 to 9 months, most individuals will experience a 60% increase in new hair growth. Doctors also will prescribe the hair-growing drug like minoxidil or finasteride to improve hair growth after transplantation.

Risks and Costs of Treatment

The cost of hair transplant will depend largely on the amount of hair you’re moving, the typical range is between RM5,000.00 and RM15,000.00. The majority of insurance plans or medical coverage do not cover it.

Bleeding and infection are some of the risks associated with transplant surgery, just like any other surgery. There is also a possibility of scarring and hair growth that appears unnatural.

As new hair begins to grow, some individuals may experience an inflammation or infection of their hair follicles, which is called folliculitis. The problem can be alleviated with the help of antibiotics and compresses. Shock loss can also occur when you lose some of the original hair in the area where you received the new strands suddenly. But usually, it’s not permanent.

Consult with our doctor about the risks and the expected improvement from the surgery.  They can assist you in deciding if it’s the best option for you.

Sincerely,

Dr Ruz
